Sadly, I am participating solely through the Internet, but, hey, I have the best seat in the house. Thanks to Cut Blog, I’m catching up on shows from my couch with a coffee. And can I just say, I’d give up all my lipsticks for the chance to wear the color in the Jason Wu show. And look at this bag at rag & bone! So good, that piping. Also loving this look, with orange and an awesome gray jacket, two of my favorite things. (For more awesome jackets and layers see Vena Cava, in a little bit more polished goodness).
My orange love affair from the summer thankfully will be back again come spring, as seen in Peter Som’s show. I’m loving the Peter Som prints! And color blocking! May that trend never die. Seen here again in Rachel Comey. Also at Rachel Comey? Some more pretty fun prints. Which were also seen in Cynthia Rowley. And Richard Chai LOVE. And in a polished, girly, gorgeous way at Wes Gordon. The thing I love most about crazy colors and patterns, is that it gives people an opportunity to have some fun. Even if you don’t want to wear every one, people are more comfortable with whimsy and risks, and that is something I can support completely. And also why I’m SO glad people are loving the Miu Miu glitter booties, even though I am not, in fact, in love with the booties themselves. (Shhh! Don’t tell!).
It’s May! It’s May! OK, it’s been May for a week now (happy Mother’s Day, everyone). Regardless, I promised a list of goals for May projects by the end of the week, sooooooo:
Shoes, shoes, shoes. Or rather, one pair of shoes, the modified awesome I had in mind last month and didn’t get to. It involves spray paint and is inspired by PS. I Made This’ trench coat project. You’ll see what I mean.
Handwarmers. Remember the handwarmers I started a billion years ago? No? Well, this month I’d like to finish them. Even though it probably won’t be cold enough to wear them for several more months. Oops.
Dress. Also, finish the dress I started last month.
Ok. Its May now. My time is up for my ongoing list of goals for April. Let’s tally the list:
Make a black and gray dress: still half way through this. (+50 points)
knit a neon yellow vest: FINISHED (+100)
enter my apartment in the apartment therapy small cool spaces contest: FINISHED! (+200 because this was really hard. I painted and ish.)
Louboutin-up a pair of shoes a la spikes and spray paint: Still on hold, due to lack of funds and time for shoe shopping (-100)
Not too shabby. I’ll post a list for May by the end of the week. In the meantime, check me out over on Blogspot! I’ll be posting more over there, probably some longer posts with a lil different spin on things than here on Tumblr. Check me ooooooout and make a May goals list of your own! Let’s meet back here and discuss.
A few weeks ago, I made a list of project goals I wanted to finish in April. With six days left in the month, here’s how I’m faring.
Make a black and gray dress —— I am in the middle of this. Should hopefully be able to finish in the next few days.
knit a neon yellow vest —- I am also in the middle of this. I have finished the biggest piece:
enter my apartment in the apartment therapy small cool spaces contest ——- you guys know how this went! Please take a minute and vote for me if you haven’t yet (Don’t let me get last place guys, c’mon)
Louboutin-up a pair of shoes a la spikes and spray paint —— This I have not started but still want to do. It’s the lowest on my priorities because of the difficulty in finding a pair of shoes to do said craft on. Maybe next weekend, but if not, I won’t be too upset.
The city is very large, and trains can be very slow. Sometimes I just don’t have time to go home and freshen up after work before I go out and play. And so day and night is born.
Go from this:
With just a quick change in the bathroom and freshening your make up you are ready to hit the town. All I did here was take off my button up (I was wearing the tank underneath) and switch out my skirt for some shorts. A not-so-secret commuter secret is to wear sandals or flats to work and switch into heels once you get to the office. So leave your heels at work, don your commuter shoes, throw your skirt and shirt into your bag and you are ready for a summer night.
My apartment got posted in the Small Cool Spaces contest! I am beyond excited. Please check it out and vote and feel free to question my (lack of) allegiance to communist leaders in the comments. But really, it’s been a blast and so nice to see people being supportive of my first decorating endeavor! Thanks so much everyone!
